Description
Having a baseline understanding of cognitive theory and educational psychology is critical to ensuring students learn effectively. This program will discuss key concepts from cognitive learning science and give concrete examples of how librarians can incorporate these theories into their instructional choices. Participants will also have the opportunity to brainstorm ways they can apply these concepts as they design or restructure their own classes.
Speaker Bio
Alyson Drake is the Assistant Director for Public Services, where she oversees reference services, instructional services, and student services for the law library, and an Assistant Law Library Faculty member. In addition to managing the library's public services, she directs the law school's Excellence in Legal Research Program, coordinates the first year Legal Practice research workshops, and teaches upper-level courses in Texas Legal Research and Foreign, Comparative, and International Legal Research.
