Israel, Iran and Preemption: Choosing the Least Unattractive Option Under International Law
First Paragraph
"Just wars," according to Grotius, "arise from our love of the innocent." Recognizing this, the State of Israel - now facing the growing threat of unconventional aggression from Iran - may soon have to consider exercising the preemption option. This option, founded upon the imperative to protect its innocent civilian populations from new forms of genocide, could surely meet the test of a "just war."
